Dr. Allen Abello completed his internal medicine residency at Broward Health Medical Center and holds a DO from Nova Southeastern University. With a Bachelor of Science in Biology from UNLV, Dr. Abello has earned accolades like the Kenneth Burnell Award and recognition for outstanding research presentations. He has served as an instructor at UNLV’s School of Life Sciences and is passionate about patient-centered care, endocrinology, and critical care. In his spare time, Dr. Abello enjoys engaging in clinical research and quality improvement initiatives.

Agbulos, Gerard, MD.

Born in Suriname, South America, Dr. Agbulos is a hospitalist who enjoys serving the Las Vegas community. Dr. Agbulos has been practicing medicine since 2005 and has experience in various medical settings. He completed his medical training at the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center in the Philippines. In his spare time, Dr. Agbulos enjoys a variety of hobbies, including tennis, soccer, biking, swimming, hiking, camping, fishing, watersports, and motorcycles.

Ahmed, Shamoona, MD.

Dr. Ahmed is originally from Karachi, Pakistan, and has been practicing medicine in the U.S. since 2011. She completed her medical training at the University of Nevada School of Medicine in Las Vegas. Dr. Ahmed is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Medical Association, the American College of Physicians, and the Association of Physician of Pakistani Descent of North America. She is fluent in English, Urdu, Hindi, and Punjabi.

Akbar, Tanveer, MD.

Dr. Tanveer Akbar is one of the founding partners of Platinum Hospitalists, where he has been instrumental in growing the practice from just four providers to over 150. Currently, he serves as the Director of Hospital Medicine, Physician Advisor for Utilization Management, and Chairperson for the Patient Safety Council at Spring Valley Hospital. A graduate of Allama Iqbal Medical College, Dr. Akbar is ABIM-certified with a focused practice in hospital medicine. His passion lies in clinical documentation improvement and enhancing patient safety, complemented by his volunteer work at the Al Maun Wellness Center in Las Vegas.

Alikozai, Farhad, DO.

Dr. Farhad Alikozai is an internal medicine physician who graduated from the Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine and is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He completed his residency at UNLV from 2018 to 2021 and has been practicing as an attending physician since 2021. During his residency, he served as a class representative and GME Space Utilization Committee member. Dr. Alikozai is an ACP poster competition finalist and has volunteered on medical missions in Guatemala and during the COVID-19 pandemic. He is fluent in intermediate Spanish and basic Farsi. Dr. Alikozai prioritizes clear communication with his patients and strives to explain medical conditions and treatment plans in simple terms. Outside of his professional life, he enjoys traveling and is engaged to his fiancée, with whom he is planning his wedding. He is an avid sports enthusiast and enjoys fitness and mentoring aspiring medical professionals.

Alim, Khwaja Sami, MD.

Dr. Sami Alim has over 15 years of experience as a hospitalist and is one of the pioneering members of Platinum Hospitalists. A graduate of Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College in India, he completed advanced cardiology fellowships and is ABIM-certified. Dr. Alim has held leadership roles, including Program Director at Mercy Medical Center, and has received accolades such as the Commander’s Award for Public Service and the “Heart of WBAMC” medal. In his free time, Dr. Alim enjoys exploring new cuisines and fostering community health initiatives.

Al-Tameemi, Ahmed, MD.

Dr. Ahmed Al-Tameemi brings a strong commitment to evidence-based medicine and patient care. He completed his internal medicine residency at UNLV after earning his MBChB from Al-Mustansiriyah University in Iraq. Bilingual in English and Arabic, Dr. Al-Tameemi is ABIM-certified and has extensive volunteer experience, including providing care to underserved populations. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking, mentoring medical trainees, and fostering multicultural connections in healthcare.

Asif, Zeeshan, MD.

Dr. Zeeshan Asif is an accomplished hospitalist with a focus on quality improvement and clinical research. A graduate of the University of Louisville School of Medicine, he completed his residency at the Mountain View Sunrise Internal Medicine program. His research on IgA vasculitis earned top honors at HCA presentations, and he has contributed to initiatives aimed at reducing inpatient falls and optimizing care for chronic cellulitis. Fluent in English, Urdu, and Hindi, Dr. Asif enjoys hiking, reading, and spending time with his family.

Astor, Olivia, MD.

Dr. Olivia Astor is a board certified internal medicine physician who completed her residency at Sunrise GME. She earned her MD from the American University of the Caribbean and undergraduate degree from the University of Pittsburgh. In her free time, she enjoys hiking and traveling.

Badery, Shamla, DO.

Dr. Shamla Badery is a compassionate and skilled hospitalist with a strong background in inpatient internal medicine. Her expertise lies in managing high-acuity patients, coordinating multidisciplinary care, and enhancing clinical outcomes through quality improvement initiatives. Baek Tan, Michelle, DO.

Dr. Michelle Baek Tan is originally from Los Angeles, CA. After initially earning her bachelor’s degree from BYU, she moved to Las Vegas where she earned her medical degree at Touro University and completed her residency training at VHS where she was Chief Resident her final year. She now considers Las Vegas home and loves cooking, hiking, and spending time with her husband and two golden doodles.

Barikzi, Leeda, DO.

Dr. Leeda Barikzi is a board-certified internal medicine physician who earned her medical degree from Kansas City University and completed her residency at University Medical Center, where she has practiced since 2023. Dr. Barikzi was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada and enjoys giving back to her community. Fluent in English and Farsi Dr. Barikzi enjoys spending time with her family and watching movies in her free time.

Bhandari, Shfal, MD.

Dr. Shfali Bhandari is an internal medicine physician who completed her residency at HCA Healthcare/USF Morsani College of Medicine in Brandon, Florida. Her research portfolio includes quality improvement projects on atrial fibrillation documentation, influenza vaccination compliance, and multiple case studies presented at ACP Florida meetings. As an active member of residency committees, including the Resident Wellness Committee and Ethics Committee, Dr. Bhandari has promoted physical, social, and psychological well-being among peers. Outside of work, Dr. Bhandari enjoys basketball, Indian dance, cooking, and traveling, which complement her well-rounded and compassionate approach to patient care.

Bhatia, Nauhar, MD.

Dr. Nauhar Bhatia is a board-certified Family Medicine physician and earned his medical degree from the Medical University of the Americas and has 9.5 years of healthcare experience, including 3 years in residency and 3 years at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. Originally from Toronto and now based in the USA, Dr. Bhatia emphasizes preventive medicine, focusing on patient education and guidance in areas such as weight loss, smoking and alcohol cessation, exercise, nutrition, and mental health. Known for his excellent communication skills and ability to build strong rapport, he provides comprehensive, compassionate care to his patients. Outside of medicine, Dr. Bhatia enjoys weightlifting, playing tennis, ping pong, and pickleball, and is also a passionate dancer.

Dr. Ruby Bhullar is an experienced physician with expertise in hospital and family medicine. She completed her family medicine residency at East Jefferson General Hospital/Tulane School of Medicine and holds board certification from the American Board of Family Medicine. With years of hospitalist experience across various Las Vegas healthcare systems, Dr. Bhullar excels in managing acute medical conditions. Her background also includes outpatient care, social services coordination, and leadership roles in multidisciplinary care teams.
