Ronald Ancheta, PMHNP is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric care through a collaborative and patient-centered approach. Before entering psychiatry, he gained 22 years of nursing experience working in the Philippines, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and now the United States, with extensive practice in both the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Emergency Room (ER). This broad clinical experience exposed him to patients from varied cultural, social, and medical backgrounds, strengthening his ability to approach care with sensitivity, adaptability, and a broad clinical perspective.
Ronald’s decision to enter psychiatry was driven by a desire to help individuals achieve emotional wellness through deeper understanding, meaningful communication, and individualized treatment. In practice, he is known as a good listener who values building trust and creating a respectful environment where patients feel comfortable discussing sensitive concerns. He believes that effective psychiatric treatment begins with understanding the person as a whole, including biological, psychological, social, and environmental factors influencing mental health.
His clinical focus includes the assessment and management of depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, insomnia, panic disorder, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, schizophrenia spectrum disorders, and substance-related disorders. He emphasizes individualized treatment planning that may include medication management, psychoeducation, behavioral strategies, and supportive therapy. He also believes that involving the patient’s significant other or family support system, when appropriate, improves treatment outcomes through shared understanding and continuity of care.
Outside of clinical practice, Ronald enjoys spending quality time with his wife and two sons, especially through fishing trips and exploring different food experiences together. He also enjoys playing the guitar, which provides a creative outlet and personal balance. He remains committed to lifelong learning and staying current with advances in psychiatric practice to provide thoughtful, evidence-based care.
